In Wednesday's match-up between Mills College and Simpson University, Mills used sharp passing to pressure the Red Hawk defense. Mills forced play into the Simpson half of the field several times, with great drives to goal by Alex Miller and Ashlyn Warny. Simpson's tenacious defense repeatedly stifled the Mills attack and held the Cyclones scoreless on the day. Mills shots were taken by Warny and Evangel Davis.
On defense, keeper, Tayla Muise, was solid in the net, recording 14 saves and intercepting several passes. The Cyclone defense played well in support of Muise but was unable to stop Simpson's quick and aggressive offense. Led by Marijke de Hoop (Klamath Falls, OR) the Red Hawks finished the day with 19 shots on goal. De Hoop recorded three goals on nine shots.
The Cyclones will face the Red Hawks again on Saturday when they travel to Simpson University for a 1:00 pm game.
