OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Mills College soccer team returned to action today, following two victories on the road. The Cyclones hosted the Red Hawks of Simpson University and played to a 1-1 tie.
The two teams were scoreless for the first 24 minutes, until Simpson got on the board with a goal from Brook Gaddy, assisted by Alyssa Gordon. The Cyclone defense and keeper, Madison Cantrell, contained the Simpson offense for the reaminder of the half to keep the score at 0-1.
In the second half Mills got off to a quick start, tying the game 1-1 in the 49th minute on a goal from Bianna Lomeli, assisted by Dahlia Pimentel. Lomeli had both of the Cyclones' shots on goal for the day. Again the defense and Cantrell, held the Red Hawks with Cantrell finishing the day with 6 saves. Head coach, Lilia Dosalmas noted that the Cyclones created more opportunities to score in the second half, connecting passes and maintaining their defensive shape.
With the tie, Mills remains undefeated and moves to 2-0-1 on the season. The Cyclones play at home again on Friday at 11:00 am, when they welcome Berry College.
