Strong defense and a strong presence in goal kept the Cyclones within one goal for the first half. La Sierra University scored in the ninth minute to take a 1-0 lead, a score that would hold until ten minutes into the second half. The Eagles kept the pressure on all game, finishing the day with 16 shots on goal. Sophomore keeper, Madison Cantrell made some outstanding saves to keep the Cyclones within reach. Mills had a chance in the second half to get on the board, using a penalty to force two corner kicks, but the La Sierra defense held firm.
Cantrell wrapped up the day with ten saves and first years Hannah Soriano-Noceda and Amanda Padilla each added a shot.
The Cyclones will host an alumnae game on Sunday, before traveling to UC Santa Cruz next Saturday.
