Mills head soccer coach, Lilia Dosalmas, has announced the addition of three transfers to the Cyclones' roster for 2017-2018. Gabriela Bejar (West Valley College), Ryan Riley (York College), and Paige Shimabuku (Marist College) will join several returning players along with a solid group of first years.
Bejar comes to Mills most recently from West Valley College in Saratoga, CA. A two-year player for the Vikings, Bejar was a 2nd Team All-Conference selection in 2016. A graduate of Boynton High School she intends to major in PEPL (Politics, Economics, Policy, and Law) at Mills. Riley brings a year of collegiate experience from York College (York, PA). Prior to York, she played for Eastside FC, Crossfire Premier, and was a four-year member of the varsity soccer team at Forest Ridge High School. As a senior captain, she led her team to their first playoff appearance in six years. Shimabuku played six years of club soccer for the Honolulu Bulls and brings versatility to the Cyclones. She has played almost all positions and was part of the 2012 Hawaii International Cup Finalist team. A native of Honolulu, Hawaii Shimabuku plans to major in PEPL.
All three players will add depth and experience to the team. Dosalmas states, "It is great to bring in players that have high level soccer experiences, including a couple of seasons of college soccer. I am really confident that this group of recruits will make an immediate impact on the development of our program and help prime us for some big successes this season."
The Cyclones return for preseason practices next week and will open their season at home on September 2 against Rocky Mountain.
