Amelia True, Swimming

Hard work and leadership have earned Amelia True Cyclone of the Week honors. Amelia is a graduate student in the School of Education and has returned to the swim team after four years. Since returning, she has dropped times in every race, while racing many different events, including long distance swims. Her drops include 14 seconds from the 500 yard freestyle, 1:07 from the mile, and three seconds in the 100 yard butterfly. She earned a place on the top ten list in the 500 yard freestyle and moved up on the list in the mile. In the first meet of the season, she dropped four seconds in the 200 yard IM and bested that in the next race by dropping seven seconds from the previous week’s personal best.

In the four years she was away from Mills, Amelia competed in long distance triathlons, allowing her to return to the team with an athletic maturity and mental toughness that are evident in her races thus far. In practice she is consistent, positive, and hardworking, leading her teammates by example. We look forward to seeing the rest of Amelia’s races this season.

Congratulations, Amelia!
