This week's Cyclone of the Week is Julia Harenčár. Julia, a Junior majoring in biology, has played on the volleyball team every year of her college career. This year, Julia moved from playing Middle Blocker to Outside Hitter at the start of the season.
On September 18th in a game against Walla Walla, Harenčár scored 8 points (6 kills, 2 solo blocks, 4 Digs). Building upon the momentum of a close contest, Mills visited Pacific Union College in the Napa wine country where Harenčár led with 10 points (7 kills, 25% hitting efficiency, 3 assist blocks, 8 digs).
On Friday, September 27th, Mills hosted visiting Menlo College during Senior Night. Kicking off the festivities, Harenčár introduced each of the Seniors: Courtney Jacobson, Quinne Hanrahan, Nina Chandrasena, and Maribel Garcia. She then gave thanks while mentioning some of the contributions that each of them have made to the volleyball program. The Cyclones played hard, keeping the crowd pumped up with some spectacular plays. Finally, on Saturday, September 28th, the annual Mills College Alumnae Volleyball match was held during Family weekend. Harenčár led a strong effort as the current team swept the alumnae in 3 games bettering last year's varsity team's 3-2 win over the alumnae.
Off the court, Harenčár was awarded the Mary Wetmore Prize for Sophomore Achievement for maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA last year. In addition to exemplary classroom performance and outstanding athletic ability, Julia has also been a lifeguard at the Trefethen Aquatic Center for the past three years.
Congratulations to Julia Harenčár for her athletic and academic accomplishments!
